Infinite Hunger (beta)
A downloadable game for Windows
Are you ready for subpar graphics! A vast arsenal (three guns) to stave off the hoard! One, not-that-detailed and kinda-small map! Than Infinite Hunger (Beta) is for you.
The main features of this early-access game are very basic and common to first-person shooters. You run around a map with a pistol, assault rifle, and a shotgun shooting zombies, collecting ammo and health pickups, and then fighting another hoard of zombies.
This is my first game in Unity3d and it was created in 2 months. I started with the knowledge of "Unity3d is a game engine" to where I am at now, so it's been a learning experience (read: frustrating failures and spastic triumphs) and I am now working on the final version of the game.
The title is a work-in-progress and will change (suggestions?) and many features will be updated, expanded, and added.
The release date for the final is set at November 1st, 2017.
The final version of the game will have the following features:
- Full multiplayer support (LAN and internet games)
- Co-op survival
- Team Deathmatch
- All modes listed above will include zombies, just to make things interesting
- Endless Survival (currently the only option)
- Endboss Survival (set number of waves with a boss at end)
- Full RPG system (see below for details)
- Six categories of weapons (pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, melee, and explosives)
- Six large maps
Infinite Hunger uses a classless character progression. You have six skills, one for each category of weapon, and each time you successfully use a weapon associated with that skill, you gain experience points towards advancing that skill. When you gain a level in a skill, you gain experience points towards advancing as a character. Upon gaining a level as a character, you gain a perk point which can be used to gain a general perk (not associated with any skill, i.e. health, speed, etc.) or to gain a specialized perk.
Specialized perks are unlocked through gaining levels in skills, though you begin play with several of these unlocked. Some perks require other perks to unlock in addition to a requisite level.
Upon release, Infinite Hunger will only have weapon skills, though in future updates, we will be adding skills (and accompanying features) for survival (i.e. barricades, crafting) and other zombie-related tasks.
As this is the beta release of the game, I encourage feedback. You know, useful feedback. Saying "your game sucks" is not helpful, but saying "your game sucks because sometime when I shoot a zombie he ignore the damn bullet" (working on that, I promise). This beta will be updated a few times to fix bugs, but no new features will be added before the final release.
As a side note, I've never made it to wave 7. I'm hoping this is a problem with zombie damage, speed, player damage, or other design flaw, otherwise I just suck at my own game. Kill more zombies than me, and enjoy.
